STOG

Description

Joint junctions of the STOG system consist of a broad massive neoprene strip into which steel T-profiles are vulcanised on both sides. These steel T-profiles fasten the strip to the underlying construction. If possible, the neoprene strip is delivered in one piece for the entire width of the fly-over or bridge and mounted waterproof on a steel angle.
The T-profiles vulcanised in the strip are not continuous; this guarantees the flexibility of the joint strip. Thus it becomes possible to coil up the strip up during transport or mounting. In this way one side of the bridge can remain open to traffic without interrupting the strip which results in minimum hindrance to traffic during repairs. Each steel T-profile has two holes for fastening-bolts. Under these T-profiles a neoprene layer of 2 mm has been vulcanised which results in a water-proof connection. Fastening the neoprene strip is done with pin bolts M12 and clamping strips. These clamping strips need to bridge the areas devoid of steel in between the T-profiles.

Because of the closed principle STOG joint junctions exclude any contamination usually occurring in joint junctions. STOG joint junctions do not have moving parts and as the neoprene strip absorbs and damps all traffic load, the life-span of the underlying construction is increased considerably. The closed and skid-free surface of the neoprene strip improves road safety for vehicles and pedestrians and causes no problems while shovelling for example.
